WordPress – The 5 Minute Quick & Dirty Review

Clipboard with list of WordPress' good and bad qualities.

If you’ve heard of WordPress, but you’re not really sure what it’s all about, this 5 minute guide is for you. Also, please note we are talking about WordPress.org and NOT WordPress.com in this article.

What is it?

It’s a content management system that can be used to build blogs and websites.

Why WordPress?

It makes it easy to manage your website yourself. Changes, features, and upgrades are cheaper to maintain on WordPress than hard coded websites.

Other Benefits

  • Insanely Popular
  • Super Expandable
  • Huge Community
  • Software is FREE
  • Thousands of plugins available

How hard is it to use?

If you can handle using Facebook or an email service, you can handle WordPress. It’s very easy to learn and there are tutorials all over the internet.

Since it’s so popular and widely used, it’s a prime target for hackers. You have to make sure to keep your installation and plugins up to date frequently to keep your site secure. Also, you need a hosting account to install it.

Where do I get hosting?

We highly recommend SiteGround, which is also the preferred hosting provider recommended by WordPress.
