Social media is a part of most people’s lives. It might be the daily checking of Facebook or sending pictures to friends on Snapchat. People post recipes and art on Instagram and Pinterest. Your customers are using social media, but are you? You may not think it’s a big deal, but social media can help your business grow and bring you closer to your customers.
Showcase Good Reviews
If you own a restaurant or other business that has regular interaction with customers, then you’ve probably seen them taking pictures of their food or one of your products. Social media sites give customers a place to post about their (good or bad) experience with your business. Their photo-snapping is part of their sharing experience.
Do you have a Facebook page? Even if you don’t think you do, generic business pages are created about your business. You can have 15 reviews on your Facebook site and not even know about it.
Reviews can show prominently on your social media profile and when people look up your business, they’ll see all the good and bad reviews. In the case of bad reviews, you can respond to them in a polite way and show people you’re a class act that cares about its customers.
Improve Customer Interaction
A while back, I had a terrible experience with a local pizza place. The pizza was horrible and I received no help from the local place. So, I went to the main chain’s Facebook page and posted a picture of the pizza along with a post about my disappointment. Within minutes, they had responded to my post and provided me with a contact number. At the time, I was mostly just airing my grievance, but their response made me give them another try.
People are turning to social media to ask questions, complain and praise businesses they frequent. It’s important to have a presence so you can interact with them and build customer brand ambassadors and keep an eye on what people are saying about your business.
Put a Philosophy to a Name
When you’re a small business, especially one that relies on local traffic, it’s important that your customers see you as more than just a store. Customers that naturally come into your store can get a sense of that with interaction, but what about those that don’t just walk in. Social media can let you show people your sense of humor, your business philosophy and more.
People spend more time on their mobile smart phone than on desktop computers and much of that time is on social media. They’re looking up information about your business. They want to learn more about you and your history. If you’re not putting an emphasis on social media, then you’re missing out on an easy way to improve customer satisfaction and consumer confidence.
